Mitigation of global warming

Mitigation of global warming refers to undertaking of steps and actions in order to reduce the degree of global warming. It basically involves taking steps to bring about a reduction of emission of greenhouse gases and thus avoid climate change.

Mitigation of global warming requires that thorough various precautionary measures, environmental policies and laws and other steps countries should work towards solving the problem of climate change.

Energy conservation, avoiding usage of fossil fuels, usage of carbon credits, setting up of emission standards and increased usage of renewable energy resources amongst others, are some of the steps that have been taken to mitigate or reduce global warming.

Apart from these, pollution control is also a method of addressing the issue. A low population implies a low level of resource consumption. Using fuel efficient cars, hydrogen fuelled cars, using of low energy or zero energy building techniques to construct buildings all can bring about a reduction in the usage of carbon and emission of greenhouse gases. This in turn can eventually bring about a significant decrease in global warming and thus avoid climate change.

Storing and capturing of carbon is an effective way of avoiding climatic change. We can collect Carbon-Di-Oxide emitted from factories and power plants and store them instead of allowing them to escape in the atmosphere. This would reduce emission of Carbon-Di-Oxide in the atmosphere by 80% to 90%.

Carbon Tax, Carbon Emission Trading, Kyoto Protocol are some of the steps undertaken by the government of countries to mitigate global warming. Live Earth Pledge is also a step that is aimed at educating people about global warming. Once people are aware, one can go ahead with methods related to the mitigation of global warming.
