UK Green Energy Suppliers |
|
The term ‘green energy’ describes various energy sources which are non-polluting and environmentally friendly. These include solar power, wind and geothermal. These energy sources can help in reducing global warming and pollution. Organizations, consumers and businesses can purchase green energy to lower environmental impacts of conventional electricity generation. This can also help in increasing the country’s energy independence. One way to support green energy is to purchase renewable energy certificates (green tags or green certificates).
There are a number of UK Green Energy Suppliers or 'green' electricity suppliers which supply electricity from environmentally friendly energy sources. They undertake investment in a proportion of profits into carbon offsetting, new renewable energy generating capacity or in some combination of these ways.
Some of the UK Green Energy Suppliers are-
Good Energy – The company was established in late 1999. There are over 24,000 customers. It includes generators in Scotland, the Midlands, Devon, Cornwall, Cumbria and North Wales. The present mix of power comprises 1% solar, 7% small hydro and 92% wind power. Good Energy also owns its wind farm in Cornwall at Delabole.

It has over 35,000 customers. It has 29 wind parks, 92 wind turbines and generates 135 MW of green electricity. It saves 284, 000 tons of carbon dioxide every year.
