AgCert International is a subsidiary of AES, which sells and produces greenhouse gas emission credits. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the company is one of the “producers” of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs). The company produces a permanent source of Global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions. The methods, employed for the production of GHG emission reductions; is approved by Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
History
AgCert, now a wholly owned subsidy of AES Corporation; was started in 2002. The generation of GHG emission reductions on a large scale was the purpose behind the establishment of the company. The methods for the reduction of GHG emissions is approved by the United Nations. The capacity of the company for large scale production of CERs, has given it an edge in developing GHG emission trading markets.
Agriculture and GHG emission reduction
AgCert is developing and encouraging, thereby facilitating the unique potential of agriculture for the generation of CERs into the market. It hopes to become the leading producer of CERs, through agriculture in the market. The company has GHG reduction units in Brazil and Mexico, approved by CDM.
By modifying the Animal Waste management system, the company reduces the GHG emissions. The company employs a multiple farm system management system that handles all the technical formalities pertaining to a farm. This way emission reduction (ER) is achieved on a larger scale. The sale of ERs is also simplified, with buyers purchasing it from a single seller – AgCert.
Global warming is one of the rising concerns rampant throughout the world. The trading industry for greenhouse gas emission was started to limit the generation of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, which contribute to global warming. AgCert is one such small effort, in the right direction, for combating global warming.
