RSA (Royal Society for the Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce) is carrying out a project named Carbon Limited. It focuses on concept of personal carbon trading that is part of a cap and trade system, which is geared to lessen levels of carbon emission.

Carbon Limited is a project of RSA. It has a duration of three years. Through this project RSA is trying to look at carbon trading at a personal level. This idea was originated by David Fleming in 1996.

Carbon Limited is attempting to collate expertise form a number of sectors like commercial, financial and social sector in order to execute pin-point and extensive analysis on various ideas and concepts on personal carbon trading.

Carbon Limited is primarily inspecting potentiality of personal carbon trading schemes vis-a-vis success and failure. They are also looking at economic and social ramifications of the same.

Personal Carbon Trading
Concept of personal carbon trading may be explained as a system of allotting every citizen with an equal amount of carbon allowance. This concept is a part of a cap and trade system that aims to reduce levels of carbon emission.

Caps are initially expected to be provided to individuals in accordance with present levels of emission. However, these levels would be reduced in order to meet goals of carbon reduction on a long-term level.

Carbon allowances are to be known as carbon credits. They would be provided at free of cost. These would be given up on an electronic basis when owners are buying electricity or fuel. Holders who have surplus carbon credit can sell the and make profits. These sales are supposed to be performed through markets.
