Carbon market investments

Carbon dioxide is no longer a free gas, it also carries price. Carbon market investments refer to trading of Carbon dioxide gas. Carbon market investments have emerged as one of the secure way of making money.

CO2 realized as a heat-trapping or greenhouse gas (GHG), and there was assigning of compulsory emission limitations to all participant nations. In late 1997 a treaty was created by the United Nations (UN) to limit the emissions of Carbon dioxide. Today the scenario is that a total of 169 countries excluding U.S. and Australia, have sanctioned the agreement.

This has lead to evolution of Carbon dioxide (CO2) as an expensive commodity, as the value of Carbon dioxide (CO2) has expanded from greenhouse gas (GHG) to application into advanced revitalization procedure for aging oil wells. With the establishment of Kyoto agreement several carbon reduction and trading schemes have been introduced. Billions of dollars of Carbon market investments have already been made as; carbon market is predicated to be one of the largest markets of the world. Though it will take some time for Carbon market investments to give fruitful results but it is expected that the outcome will be very profitable.

Not only individuals but several institutions have also taken interest in Carbon Market investments. Special interest has been taken in investing projects that are used to generate CERs. This activity has gained priority in big banks, hedge funds and brokerage firms all over the world. It is known that large sum of money has been invested in order to finance emissions reductions projects; the investors are always in hunt of new projects to invest in. Under the schemes developed by Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), several investment firms have ventured in to carbon market investment.
