The Sky Trust

The Sky Trust is an important concept, in its earlier stages of development, in USA. It is highly regarded as far as reduction of carbon emission and betterment of economic conditions in USA is concerned.

The Sky Trust may be defined as a cap and dividend system that makes payments to citizens of USA. In recent times a publication named “Citizen's Guide to Carbon Capping” has come out. It aims at increasing the efficiency of a cap-and-trade system in USA. Main aim behind this particular publication is to bring about some ideas that accentuate reduction of harmful fuel emissions in USA.

It is also expected that reduction in such fuel emission would help in improving economic conditions in USA. The Sky Trust is the fulcrum on which ideas stated in “Citizen's Guide to Carbon Capping” revolve. This is supposed to lead to sustain an adequate level of household income in USA while reducing carbon emission in USA.

Basic Idea of The Sky Trust
Primary idea behind The Sky Trust is encouraging conservation of carbon resources like coal for example. This is environmentally beneficial as use of coal and similar carbon resources leads to pollution. It is also important to reduce use of carbon resources as they, unlike non-renewable sources of energy, are supposed to run out after a point of time.

Projected Future of The Sky Trust
It is being expected that The Sky Trust has a bright future as it has support of presidential candidates and lawmakers in USA. Promoters of The Sky Trust are also hopeful that it would be favored by common people in USA.

Features of The Sky Trust
As per The Sky Trust certain caps are placed on carbon by US government. Basic aim is to bring down level of emissions to 80% of what they were in 1990s. It is being assumed that this aim would be achieved by 2050. There are no allowances for safety valves or offsets. Permits are sold through auctions instead of providing them to polluters.

The Sky Trust does not provide any exemptions to a particular industry or sector. Revenue that is realized by auctioneering permits is provided to families instead of governmental bodies or industrial entities.

It is expected that such measures would help to generate positive reactions to The Sky Trust even if fuel prices go up to a significant extent. The Sky Trust also aims to learn from mistakes committed by European Union regarding implementation of European Trading Scheme, which was an environmental program as well.

There are certain contentious issues regarding proper implementation of The Sky Trust as US coal and oil industries are in a considerably strong position to influence workings of the concept. Certain questions are also being raised in various circles regarding this issue.
