Energy-Efficient Lightbulbs

Energy-efficient lightbulbs are extremely important from an environmental perspective. There are three major types of energy-efficient lightbulbs – compact fluorescent bulbs, light-emitting diodes and halogen bulbs.

Energy-efficient lightbulbs have been described by experts as being extremely environment friendly. It has been stated that much of present day levels of smog has been contributed to by indiscriminate usage of electricity and similar resources. Coal-burning generators have been traditionally labeled as main culprits in this case.

Coal has been described as a major reason behind present day levels of emission of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are potentially fatal as far as environmental safety of earth is concerned. It has been observed that levels of carbon dioxide being emitted on a personal basis, all over the world, needs to be reduced, by at least a tonne each so that Kyoto Protocol may be observed properly. A most efficient way to ensure that such activities are executed is usage of energy-efficient lightbulbs.

Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
Compact fluorescent bulbs are extremely handy from a point of view of energy efficiency. They can be operated easily and provide soothing light beside having an ability to be fitted into any fixture. They are also supposed to be 90% more effective compared to incandescent bulbs. They are supposed to be more durable as well.

In recent times compact fluorescent bulbs have become cheaper. They are also available in better designs. They come mostly in small spiral shapes and also have reflector styles that are useful as far as pot lights are concerned.

Halogen Bulbs
Halogen bulbs are yet another alternative to incandescent lightbulbs. They are supposed to be 50% more effective compared to them. They are normally durable and are used mostly for purposes of track lighting and floodlights as they are most effective in such cases.

Halogen bulbs normally range between $3 and $7 mark. They are used along with dimmers, motion detectors and timers for purposes of saving energy.

Light-Emitting Diode
Light-emitting diodes are supposed to be best equipped as far as conservation of energy is concerned. They are 99% better than incandescent lightbulbs and are more durable too. Nowadays light-emitting diodes are used as nightlights, patio lighting, that is solar-powered and flashlights.
