Carbon Trade Watch

Carbon Trade Watch centers its activities around community-led projects and campaigns and seeks to offer a research, which ensures a wholesome and an impartial analysis of climate change and policy. It is a project by Transnational Institute, an organization based in Amsterdam.

Carbon Trade Watch is a project undertaken by Transnational Institute in order to monitor ‘pollution trading’, while focusing on the greenhouse market situation. This project was started in the year 2001 and 2002.

With countries across the world becoming increasingly cautions about climatic changes occurring due to emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, a close watch of the carbon market becomes imperative. Besides, it was observed that many countries were using the climate change as a means of making profit. They adopted profits, which addressed this issue temporarily and traded pollution to the developing countries, thereby harming them.

Carbon Trade Watch monitors and ensures that countries do not adopt this practice. It offers valuable resource and information on the pollution credit market and related matters to various groups like Small Southern NGO’s and others. This project offers assistance to counties and communities dealing with problems related to social justice and environment.

The work of this project is managed by a non-hierarchical group of researchers actively dedicated to the task of finding information on pollution trading and climate changes. Films, photography, publications, internet and audio are the various mediums that are used to by Carbon Trade Watch to spread awareness about climate change.
