Carbon Audit

Carbon audit can be referred to as a process of computation and evaluation of any business or organization’s carbon emissions. Carbon audit can be used to develop and work further on any prioritized carbon reduction plan.

Carbon audit is also known as carbon footprint calculations and is based on standard methodology of ‘Global Footprint Network’. This renowned methodology utilizes a ‘bottom-up’ approach in order to perform carbon footprint analysis. Global Footprint Network is dedicated to promotion of a globe where all people have the prospect to live within the resources of Earth's environmental competence. Global Footprint Network advocates advancement in scientific rigidity and practical application of Ecological Footprint. Ecological Footprint is a device that measures human demand on nature, and nature's competence to meet up human demands.

Global climate change is recognized as one of the greatest challenge of mankind. This is also one of the most significant indicators of ecological overshoot. It has been calculated that carbon footprint has reached to 50 percent of overall Ecological Footprint and hence it becomes necessary to reduce ecological overshoot. Carbon audit or carbon footprint calculation becomes necessary to measure the amount of carbon emission being emitted in the atmosphere. Carbon audit or carbon footprint is used as shorthand for the quantity of carbon (usually measured in tonnes) being emitted by any organization.

Carbon audit or carbon footprint provides us the scenario of what amount of carbon is emitted in the environment and what the ecological balance is. This leads to proper identification of the best long term solutions to minimize the harmful effects of carbon emissions. Carbon audit or carbon footprint provides choices to decide upon whether carbon reductions are the most effective measure to stop global warming or which energy sources will lead to a pure environment.
