AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors |
|
AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors is referred to as a report produced by EPA which includes emission factors for paved roads, and unpaved roads in section 13.2.1 and 13.2.2 respectively.
AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors was initially published by the United States Public Health Service in year 1968. Then it was revised and the second edition of AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors was published by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1972. AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors includes emission factors for paved roads and unpaved roads.
Emission factor can be referred to as a value that represents the attempt to relate the quantity of a pollutant emitted in atmosphere with the activity which is associated with the emission of the pollutant. The emission factors are determined as the weight of pollutant divided by a unit weight, distance, volume, length of activity that emits the pollutant. Thus, a general equation can be written as
E = A * EF * (1 - ER / 100)
Here,
E = total emissions
A = activity rate of emitting pollutants
EF = emission factor
ER =overall emission reduction efficiency, measured in percent
In the first edition of AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors, which was published in 1978, contained all relevant information about the movable source emission factors. The information regarding the source code listing of the MOBILE1 highway vehicle emission factor model was also included in AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors. There grew a lot of complexity and sophistication in keeping the account of these parameters and hence there was a need of more user-controlled options. In the revised AP 42 Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors it was not possible to provide complete listings of all emission factors. Thus, more emphasis was given on background information and documentation.
